You must have heard That dji has launched their newest drone. In the market called dji mavic air 2. Basically its an upgrade of original mavic air. They have added a lot of new & exciting features. In this drone There is so much to cover, so I'll not waste time.

I also got one dji drone... You can see it here And I do paid drone assignments So you'll be listening to an experience drone user here Who knows a bit more about drones then a regular person. So if you are planning to get a drone for yourself read this Article till the end..It will help you in Making the right decision And lets get going If we compare it with the original mavic air drone.

  • Is DJI Mavic Air 2 worth it?

There are more than a few Best reasons to consider the DJI Mavic Air 2. At launch time, it hit the market as the well drone for the money that you can buy for you, with the balance of a greatly camera and latest solid flight features for the price. If you can afford the Mavic Air 2 drone, buy it.

DJI Mavic Air 2 Features.

It has changed a lot. It has grown slightly bigger as well. It has got a new 1/2 inch sensor Which is bigger then the original dji mavic air. Which means, New drone will capture more details Better dynamic range as well as will have improved Low light performance.

Just slightly better Image processor is called "Quad bayer" I really dont know what does that mean All I know is that its the same processor Which are being used in lots of smartphones in Past 2 years.Which is primary resolution of 12mpx But they also support a super resolution mode of 48mpx.

The Mavic Air 2 drone is an incredibly versatile piece of hardware. That's perfect for beginners just getting into a new drone hobby and for more best advanced Dronies (I just made that word up) looking for an all-around good product.

It has 28mm of field of view & has fixed f2.8 aperture Which means if you want to manually adjust the Exposure in your photos or videos. You cant use aperture You can only use your shutter speed & iso In photo mode.

There are 2 resolutions available 12mpx is default resolution & 48mpx high resolution mode Which can help you capture slightly more details. You can capture photos in jpeg as well as raw (dng) It has exposure bracketting option as well Dji also introduced a smartphoto feature in it.

It will automatically analyzed the scene & make the changes in camera setting To give your vibrant, detailed photos. Who doenst want to deal with raw can use this feature. It also supports the panorma photo mode & its camera does the fantastic job in stiching the images & you get really vibrant colours. there as well It also has this smart hdr feature.

Its like It works like hdr + mode in google pixel phones However it works in all the modes, like photo, video & Panorma The only limitation is that when you use this mode On any type of video resolution, you can only Use it at 30p max This done has got some great video specs as well It can shoot 4k at 60p 2.7k at upto 60p And 240p at 1080 Thats extreme slow motion. It supports videos in mp4 & mov format As far as the video codec's are concerend.

  • Is Mavic Air 2 better than Mavic air?

Frame Rate & Bit Rate

In addition to a higher frame rate, Mavic Air 2 drone has a higher bit rate that produces a well-looking videos. While both Mavic Air drones have FHD modes, Mavic Air 2 drone  offers up to 240 fps compared to Mavic Air's 120 fps. This all translates to more smoother, cinematic footage.

It support widely used h.264 Which is supported by all the computers & softwares It also supports h.265 which is also known as hvec Its a new codec, which provide better quality clips While keeping the file size in check It provides better quality then h.264 Now the problem is since. its a new codec... It's not supported by many pcs and softwares currently One important I forgot to tell you I got to know that whenever you record 4k 60p It will always be recorded in h.265 even if you Choose a different setting.

It might be a bug Which can be fixed later through firmware update So if you computre doesnt support h.265 Then avoid using those resolutions In video mode you get 2 picture profiles One is normal And another one is cinelike-d Which is a flat picture profile..& can be helpful in Recovering some details However its not as efficient as a proper log mode Log mode is different & it provide better dynamic range.

We can say cinelike -d can provide better quality then Normal picture profile After some grading in the post Its like log provides the best dynamic range Then comes the cinelike -d & at last normal picture profile Dji has introduced a new dji fly app with this drone Which is different then dji go app You can also edit your clips within the app Pluse you also get an option to shoot 8k hyperlapse All you have to do is just enable that option through the App And drone. will do all the heavy lifting for you.

There are some presets for hyperlapse moves All you have to select one preset e.G. Free style, course Lock Circle or waypoint...Waypoint is really good one You have to draw a line on the map & the drone Will follow the same rounte thoughout the hyperlapse. You can get very creative with these featuers When we buy a new drone We always want to create some cinematic meneuvers However due to lack of experience.

We could achive those Shots To solve this problem..Dji has put in quickshot feature In most of its drone...& this one also has that There are lot of options..Lot of complicated maneuvers Which otherwise only an experienced professional can do But thanks to dji..All you have to do is just select any Preset & drone will automatically performe that manevure As far as the subject tracking is concerned. There are quite a few options available here You can choose them & give your clip a block buster treatment.

6.2 miles

DJI's drone official maximum transmission distance for the Mavic Air 2 drone is 10km (6.2 miles), More than enough to get some awesome shots and have very peace of mind while flying long-distance😎.

I personally experienced this during the shoots I am trying to fly my drone between tree branch & I am confident that it'll pass away safely however Drone's sensor thinks otherwise & jsut stand still & spoiled my entire clip. There is a new feature in this drone Called apas 3.0.

Its an advance obstacle avoidance feature Once it hit an obstacle.. It will find an alternative path & continue to fly They have also added the support for ocusync 2.0 In dji mavic air 2..Which is another welcome addition With this drone can transmit full hd video feed From a distance of 10 km. That too without any intruption or quality drop.

  • What is the price of DJI Mavic Air 2 in India?

I queried in new delhi and it's too costly...like 1.15L to 1.25L

This drone can reach upto 68kmph in sports mode. It has obstacle avoidance sensors in quite a few locations Front, back, dowwards...But no sensor placed in sidway Which means you'll have to be carefull, when you Try to fly this drone sideways It has 34mins of fly time Longest in any dji drone Company is claiming 34 mins.

Even if we get 25 mins.. Thats not bad at all Dji has completely changed the remote controll If you compare it with original dji mavic air remote It has grown in size They have added one tiny but very important feature Which is very crucial for flying. That is inbuilt Compartment for cable.

I had faced a situation during one of my commercial project My dji phantom 4 was linked with my phone Which supported usb c type cable. We planned to shoot a sunset sequence & I accidently forget to carry my usb cable with me. There were 4 other crew members in my team & all of them had usb a type supported phones So we had to cancle that shoot In this new remote.

They have a tiny little place Under the mobile holder section Where you can store your cable So your cable will always be there with your controller Its a geniuse thinking by dji engineers This controller has got dual battery Which has 240 mins of run time. & you can also charge your smartphone with it In old controllers there use to be antennas However with this one.

I flew my Mavic Air 2 drone tonight for the first time at night. Every time I fly in the daytime. it returns exactly place where it lands. But on this night flight it deviated from it's take-off spot by at about ten feet. A window popped up on the screen saying two things:1 The Mavic Air 2 drone reached it's maximum potential.

They have integrated The antenna with the mobile holder. So it has 2 in 1 function now Now lets talk about the pricing. Its launched in us for $799. which is around RS.62000/-. Then there is another combo offer. In which you get some Extra accessories + nd filter Which priced at $1000 around INR75000.

So I feel when it will be launched in india. It will be Priced around 75k for drone only & the combo pack would be priced. Somewhere around 92k.

Conclusion

This is an ideal drone for beginners. Those who want to invest in the best product from the start. Its also a good option for those who are looking For upgrade specially from mavic mini. There are some features which truly make this drone unique Infact they are missing from dji's pro grade drones for now E.G. 34 mins fly time 8k hyperlapse option.

I guess thats also unique The support for ocusync 2.0 Its not there even in mavic pro 2 So overall. Its a great drone Let me know what do you think about this Article. You can comment below ..I'll see you soon with my next Article.
